questions about re-speed brake kit on a 1979 RX7

so I have some questions..

i am ordering a re-speed big brake kit for the front of my RX7 (1979)

1=I have the 1984-1985 spindles, and a set of 1986 "hard suspension" hubs.

what bearings do I need for this, do I get bearings for the spindles or the ones for the hubs or are they the same?????

2= I stripped the stock rotors, bearings, seal from the 84-85 spindle and removed the backing plate and cleaned them up.

is there anything I need to do to those spindles?????

3= I discovered that the 1979 spindles (tubes) are longer than the 84-85 ones and thus the strut cartdidge doesnt fit.

so I need cartridges for a 81-85 RX7 right???????

what about the springs???? can I use my 1979 springs?????

4= also when I do install the cartridge in the strut tube, do I add oil and how much and what kind?????

any help or pics of this conversion would greatly help..

thanks

I was going to do that set up but I end up with this you may want to consider before attempting anything.
THE RACING STORE
Just another Idea and not to expensive and looks much better.
Also in that kit comes everything you need.

1= You will use the second generation bearings.
2= You will need to press on the spindle spacer that we supply. This is an easy step.
3= Yes 81+ Struts are shorter than the 79-80.

The other kit linked does look nice but make sure you are comparing apples to apples. The rotor size used in that kit is smaller and non-vented. It is a drag race setup. For street / autocross or racing it could actually be a step backwards.

let me know if you have any more questions.
Also, all of our install manuals are online for you to view before purchase. You can find them here -> http://re-speed.com/forums

wow 575$ for that other kit....????

170 and some change for the respeed brackets
100 bucks for two calipers from NAPA
bone yard rotors and resurface them = 20 bucks
new struts 100 bucks (koni)

only comes to about 400 bucks

cheaper I say

the respeed kit is what i have and i dont think anything else available for the first gen can compare. as stated above, the other system doesnt use vented rotors and the rotors are smaller. the above is made for drag racing, but wouldnt do as well as the respeed set up in autox, road racing, etc.

IMO the respeed kit is BY FAR the best brake upgrade available for our cars. thats performance and price. also with the respeed kit you have many different options for lug patterns; 4x110, 4x114.3, 5x114.3
