How To:Paint You RX-7's Wheels. - Tutorial
Here's how to paint your wheels.
Supplies Needed:
- 1 Can of paint stripper
- 1 Can of Zinc Chromate primer (for non-ferrous metals)
- 1 Can of which ever color you want to paint your wheels ( I recommend high heat paint.)
- 1 Wire brush.
- 120 grit sand paper.
If Polishing Lip:
- 1 Roll of Masking tape
- Various grade of fine sanding paper (I used 400-1000-2000)
- some sort of polishing wheel and device (I used a Dremel)
- Some sort of polishing compound
- Lots of elbow grease
Step One -
Spray the wheels with the paint stripper, to remove the factory clear.
Step two -
After the paint stripper has finished doing its thing, scrap the wheel with the wire brush, to remove the clear.

Step Three-
Spray the wheel down with a garden hose.
Step Four - I sanded the area to be painted with 120 Grit paper, to give the primer something to stick to.
***OPTIONAL***Step Five -
Polish the lip, by starting with your lowest grade of sand paper, and work your way up. Than use your polishing device, and some sort of polishing compound. Than mask off the lip, and your tires to prevent over spray.

Step Six -
Now, shoot your primer, give it a couple coats. I didn't tape off my tires, cause I NEED new ones.

Step Seven -
Once the primer has set up, you can shoot your paint, give it a couple coats.

You're done! Step back, and enjoy your labor!

If you F@ck up yours wheels, I take ZERO responsibility, and you're a n00b!

I painted the wheels on my sentra this weekend, and all I used was some 3M scuffing pads to prep, and 2-3 coats of paint. 2-3 coats of clear. This was the same way I painted them two years ago, and they never chipped or flaked on me at all. I just re-did them because I wanted a red lip, plus they were just slightly starting to fade... I'm thinking the 7 wheels can be done in the same manor.

sounds pretty self explanatory but polishing you did looks good. now go back over it all with an automotive clear so the polished part doesnt oxidize on you. good workand get back to photoshopping haha.
