Question on re-installing the beehive oil cooler

OK, I have the Beehive oil cooler out (85 12a), almost (still need to locate and remove the 3rd nut). Will then separate the top part (the finned part) from the bottom part (the pestle) so I can replace those O rings, also.

Question is: Is it better to reassemble the cooler (the top finned part to the bottom pestle) prior to putting it back on or could you more easily put the pestle back on followed by the finned part. E.g. which way would be easier, assuming both methods would work (I ask because of the caution in the manual about not taking the two parts apart, else risking a leak)?

First issue, the 3rd bolt. Look on top of the motor, just behind the rats nest. Right beside the cooler, even with the filter.
As for reassembly, I would bet putting the 2 parts back together before installing would be easier.

Unhappy

Agree with Rouge_Wulff, just did this to install threaded inserts for clutch slave cylinder bolts - rebuilt beehive at same time. Seem like no matter how you do it, its not much fun.
