Question about Prolong engine treatment
I found one thread when I searched that said prolong is bad for our cars. It didn't, however, give any reasons as to why. I'm wondering if prolong has actually been tested in our cars. The only reason that I could think that it would cause a problem, is if it doesn't burn properly when injected into the combustion chamber. Does anyone have any detailed info on this?
Thank you,
Brian Heston

Read this.

But FWIW, I put slick 50 ( back in the day ) in my stock 12A and it was running strong at 140,000 miles when I did the 13B swap.

So, the FTC got wind that the tests they refered to and allegedly demonstrated on their video may have been false, but does the product actually work? How did Prolong respond to the allegations? Have they performed these tests at this point to prove the FTC wrong? If you have any of these answers, I'd love to hear them, but I guess I'll have to do a lot of searching and book work myself too. Thanks for the help so far.
Also, on a related note, I see that you are using a synthetic blend oil in the engine, and full sythetic in the rear end and tranny I'm assuming. Out of curiousity, how long have you been doing this without adverse results?
Thanks,
Brian Heston

My friend ran his engine for close to 70 miles with absolutely no engine oil. He has an 88 GTU. It still runs. So dispite what the FTC might say I use ProLong.

the only thing i have against any of this junk is if you read the warrenty they list what they will replace.... and its all piston motor parts not a single rotor part. and after emailing them all i got was a reply saying that they would replace what is listed in the warrenty

prolong was a scam, i remember being told a long time ago that it was based off old technology. When it came out it was essentially nothing "new". I remember watching the infomercials where they would drop the oil pan and spray the bottom of the engine with a hose, or drain the oil and drive it for umteen miles. Everyone was so amazed! i was told that it was actually banned in somes states?

stock omp setup now. Plan to change to 2-cycle pump from rotaryaviation later this year, though.
From everything I've experienced, seen, and read...the only thing I want to change lube-wise is the burning of 4-cycle oil ( dino or synthetic ).
