need help determining engine type (new to 7's)
is theire any way to tell the 12a from the 13b? when i bought the car i didnt get a owners manual an would like to know because it would make life easier. Its a 82 and believe from what i have learned so far it is a 12a but want to know for sure
only one sold in 82 was a 12a, so if its original, you've just had your question answered
if its a swap, well there could be lots of configurations, but most 13bs are FI (except of course pre-84 13b's). give us more info on the setup and we can help more, and btw if you look at the rotor housings, it has 12a and 13b stamped on them

This stamp is located on the top of the aluminum rotor housings on the driver's side, on the horizontal surface about 4" above the spark plugs. Unless a previous owner swapped in a 13B yours is a 12A. The 13B wasn't available on the 1st gens until 1984, and even then only on the GSL-SE model.
