You shouldnt just cap those lines. They need to breathe clean, filtered air. You should either tap fittings into your new air cleaner or make a seperate breather for them.

Rx7Vegeta, you're not off to the best start. PLEASE don't make two threads for the exact same topic, and have patience. Just because people don't post within an hour doesn't mean that nobody knows your problem. Some people on here only check in once a day!

Now I'm getting curious. When you say you capped off "all vacuum lines", do you just mean the ones that went to the old airbox, or ALL vacuum lines from the carb?

my questions from the other thread stand: do you have cats or need to pass emissions?

If you don't, then follow the emissions removal tutorial that Rx7Carl and Pratch wrote, and it should help solve the problem. You can't just randomly cap a few lines and expect things to work.

Sorry to come down so hard, but you've got 5 posts already to ask one question. My suggestion: grab and follow the rat's nest removal tutorial and you won't have to worry about it. It's in the FAQ

Jon

Thanx for the info I'm actually new to the system and a new RX-7 owner always been in love with the cars finally got off my but and got one, just as another question will removing the rats nest help with performance at all? Don't worry I will be pulling up the FAQ page.
Thanx again for the info and sorry about the double post.

Removing rats nest wont gain performance, but it will make it easier to troubleshoot any possible vacuum leak in the future.

Exactly. And it makes for a less-cluttered engine bay. Of course, you lose the opportunity to make a color statement with several feet of colored vacuum hose.

Jon's right. Only post your question once. If you like, you can post the same question at a few different boards: www.mazspeed.com and www.nopistons.com are a couple alternatives. With any luck, the answers will be the same.
