She's gone. And I can't do anything about it.
Today, I was faced with 2 options... "donate" my 79 RX-7 Widebody (Double J.) to the junkyard and get a tax break (they valued it at $2800, with the cracked frame, depleted strut towers, dead 13B, bad tranny, no driveshaft, bad open diff rearend, and the Mazda Factory Racing IMSA Mk3 GTU Widebody Kit, with High Whale Tail); or have the New Orleans Police Department haul it to the junkyard, and stick me with a nice $525 "Abandoned/Wrecked Vehicle" fine.
After over 1000 hours of work... earning every single one of my 29 tickets last year... *ALMOST* completing a 900 mile drive from Bloomington, IL to New Orleans, LA (the oil seals blew at 892 miles into it... 8 miles from my destination)... and essentially making me the happiest driver EVER... it went on the back of a flatbed, and was hauled off this afternoon... with the tax break "donation" receipt in my hand. I seriously had a meltdown. I've never felt THAT much emotion from a car... that car was my BABY.... and now she's gone.
Everything except the widebody kit itself went onto my '85... RB springs, Tokico Blues, S/S brake and clutch lines, 15x8" Centerline IMSA wheels, RB Strut Tower brace, and a bunch of other stuff. I'm just too much of a mess right now to remember it all. Luckily, the '85 is being stored for a month or so, so that I can move to Jacksonville, FL and come back to get it in a couple weeks.
So, that's all I have to say about that.

why cant the police/state find anything better to do than bitch about a vehicle just because its temporarily disabled. ive had those bastards come by my house twice because i guess its illeagal to have a disabled vehicle or an untitled vehicle on MY property. they can just kiss my ***.I know how you feel, luckily they havent gone after my 79...yet

That's a real bummer, sorry to hear about it. One good rule to follow, don't ever love something that can't love you back. I really like my 1st gen, but I would never even dream about loving it. It's just a toy that is eventually going to break. Hope you can get another one someday.
