I'm trying to figure out what the color of the Rx-7 logo is on the factory floor mats. Is it supposed to be white, or gray, or black? Gus has a gray interior and I'm thinking of getting a new set of factory style floor mats from JasonS here:

I can't figure out what the factory color for the Rx-7 logo is though. It seems like people are ordering them in all different colors. What is the factory floor mat logo color for a gray interior? Can anyone help me out? I'm leaning towards gray on gray, like the last picture.

Hey, last year I threw away my original floor mats that my dad bought at the dealership back in '79 they were a wine color matching the interior but they did not have a Rx7 logo on them. I have been looking for a couple year for actual factory issue floor mats and I can't find any with the Rx7 logo on them the only ones available with a Rx7 logo are actually aftermarket.
I dug up some pictures of later Rx7 floor mats from Fc's, Fd's, and they all have a white Rx7 logo.
Some of the pictures are small but you can at least see white lettering.

If you go white , it sure wont stay that way long . probably better to go dark colour for the logo .

Jasons mats are so awesome . I bought some in december for my '89 . Going to get some for the '79 as I get to the interior.

 

The rest of the interior carpet looks new too. Is it? If it is, where'd he get it?

So does anyone know what the factory logo color really is? There were a couple of LOW mile FB's for sale on e-bay a couple of weeks ago and I wish I could go back and look at the auction pictures. One of them had a gray interior, and had factory floor mats even. It was a 30,000 mile GSL-SE I think.

Anyway, If anyone has pictures of the factory mats or knows the correct color please let me know. I'm trying to keep everything as correct as possible during my resto-mod of Gus.

My car still has a set of original Mazda floormats in it I got from the dealer back in 86 or so, but of course, they are red to match my interior....will have to look at the logo color, I am betting from memory its white or grey....

 

Just went out to the shop and looked at my old mats. The logo on mine is red to match the mats. Also noticed the script is 2nd Gen rx7 style. Guess that's all they had back then. Fit is perfect and I know they are Mazda mats as I bought them at the dealer many moons ago....

 

I bought a Japanese magazine earlier today dedicated to the 79 Rx7 and this magazine was published in 79. This magazine has full coverage of the 79 Rx7 so if you don't mind holding on for a little bit when I get it I'll shoot through it and see if they have and floor mat pics. I remember looking at some of the pictures and it has interior shots of a green 79,yellow 79, and everything else. I think this magazine will be your best bet to find out what original floor mats look like.

Ahhhh perfect! That is the exact car that I saw on E-bay. Thanks for digging it up for me. So, to bring this thread to a conclusion here is what the mats for Gus should really look like:



I'm going to see if I can get JasonS to make an exact copy of them for me. It looks like the maroon pair that he made at the top has the logo on the wrong side of the floor mats. I guess that they requested them that way? Anyway, I'll see if I can place an order with him now to get a set of replica floor mats made for Gus.
