Just use a good automotive trim glue. Clean both surfaces as good as you can first. I had great luck putting the trim back on when the panels were on the ground. A little harder on the car. Check with a local body shop, they have the really good industrial strength glue.

use gorilla snot, but to keep from getting funny looks from the parts counter jockey ask for 3m trim adhesive(its in a white and red tube). ive use this stuff on everything weatherstrip, side mouldings,xm antennaes and it never fails.

The factoy uses a double sided tape. 3M makes some specifically for body trim.

If I recall correctly when I did some work on mine at my friends body shop, he used an acetone based solvent to clean both the trim and the body to free it of any grease, oil or dirt, then used a double sided tape (like the 3M stuff).

I'm almost positive I asked him "why not use a spread adhesive" and the reason was 'cause double sided tape can be removed (if needed) with a heat gun, whereas the gorrila stuff may not.

Some of the glues will never come off without taking the paint with them. It's also easy to get run-over with the glue and the job will look terrible.

When I picked up my freshly painted SE from the body shop, he cleaned the surfaces and used double sided tape. Took them less than 15mins to do.

Double sided tape. Works for logos as well, when the pins break off (you just gotta be a little creative with logos)

Double-sided 3M tape is used for OEM trim.

So, say I wanted to REMOVE the trim, would a heat gun work on the stock double sided tape?

Gas works good to take them off, 3mm double sticky tape (the thick stuff, much cheaper at WalMart than the parts stores) puts them back on.

Properly installed and maintained, I think the moldings look great, especially on lighter colored cars:

They practically define the stock 1st generation style.

IMHO

I painted my moldings to match the car color. I think it looks much better than it would have without them. Plus, it maintains continuity with the features in the front and rear bumpers and protects from door dings.
