It looks like there is a Cat overheat danger with Rats Nest removal on FBS3 12a's?

The S1,S2's don't have the 3 cat converters. So I am going to just put everything back on. I simply don't have the money to buy a new exhaust system this year.

From the continued research I have done it looks like without the airpump the pre cat 1 will overheat?

Correct me if my thinking is wrong?

 

from what it sounds, the problem is yo still have the cats on the car.

 

My 84 GSL runs much better with the rat's nest back on. Better throttle response, smoother power through the whole rpm range, significantly better gas mileage.

Others may have different results, that's just my experience after an interesting but less than satisfactory summer without the rats.

You can't just take off the cats. You have to buy a header, 1 or 2 pipes (one if high flow cat added) then the muffler. In addition to inspecting and replacing any of the mounting hardware. $1000-1500.

And it's not a complaint on all the guides etc. Just that I think it all needs to be done at once.

BLAM! Who needs full exhaust to get rid of cats?

 

Take off the cats, not the exhaust manifold, then run one pipe from the exhaust manifold to the muffler $40 to $80 at a muffler shop if you supply the flanges, which can be cut from the cats.
You can also find these pipes already made in the junkyard if you're lucky.
