pulling out the 12A

I'm just wondering how much effort is required to pull out the engine from a first gen in order to replace seals and such. I mean for a non-mechanic guy who has not had much experience working on cars. Will I need an engine hoist even though its a smaller engine? Will i have to do some stuff underneath the car? whats goin on.

thanks in advance.

The first thing to get and read is a Haynes Manual, then decide if you want to go through with it. And yes, you should defintely use an engine hoist. Good luck!

PS- Here's an eBay auction for a Haynes manual for ya: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2419122255

If you are not that much of a mechanic, it would defenetly take some effort to pull the motor out. Just like innitab said defenetly read the manual first. And yes, you would defenetly would have to get dirtry and do some stuff underneath the car. Also the whole process is pretty messy, especially onese you start taking the motor apart. Just make sure you have a lot of spare rags laying around.

I am and improving mechanic. I pulled a 12a out of and 83 last year and put it in and 84. Make sure as you pull things apart mark them with masking tape with notes or take phots with a digital camera. I used and engine hoist and it made things much easier.

What seals are you talking about? If you are planning on replacing the apex seals as in engine rebuild, think again. If you are pulling the engine to replace with a rebuilt, fine. It's not that hard. Ditto the above post, use masking tape, digi cam etc. Also, take your time, if you don't you will make mistakes.
