The propper wave?

Ok we all do it. Giving a wave to anouther rotory driving around when you see it. Even if the RX-8 guys don't wave back....

My question is, how do you wave. Is it a hand gester, or flicking your head lights up and down.

The reason I ask is because I believe the first gen miatas had a wave button, which simply flicked the head light up and down. Not many people knew about it, but it was there.

So do I look like a moron with malfunctioning head lamps, or does anyone else wave the same way?

Hmm, I hardly ever see another 7 on the road. I like the headlight idea. Almost all 8 owners are haters

I should try the flip, only problem is if I did that I would either flip them after they passed, or end up doing a headlight wave to a lot of Zs before they got close enough to tell the difference.

A guy in a second gen flipped his headlights at me the other day and I couldn't figure out why he had his lights on in the middle of the day and why he was turning them off when I passed him. Now I understand.

In the FC, they get the FTP flash. In the FB, you gotta wink the headlights... Until you go flush mount, then you just bright 'em.

I wink mine. Only one goes up and down.

I get more of a responce that way instead of both of them going up.

(you have to hit the button FAST)

I flip my headlights and give two quick high revs. The rev always gets a response... mostly because 8 drivers seem to be pretentious and dickish and are reving to say they are better and faster...

I normally have my arm out the window with my hand resting on the side mirror. So whenever I see another seven or an eight I always give them a little zieg heil, hitler style, flick of the wrist. I do wave like an idiot when I see another FB though.

Definitely the headlight 'flip'.

I've noticed the same thing about MOST '8 drivers, but when you sit down to talk to them, they're just like us - in fact, a lot of them owned various generations of 7's along the way.

I think they're just not as in-tune with the rotary history,

The 8's have a 50/50 split here. Either you are a delta-phi-chi-whatever chick, or you are part of TAMU's sports car club.

Alot of them dont know what an Rx-7 is, so they probably think either you are some ricer punk, or you are an Rx-8 groupie who cant afford one.... I just cant wait to race one, see what its made of.... Oh and $10 says that when 7's came out that guys in previous rotaries did the same thing. And thought all 7 owners were uptight and pretentious In a few years that will change, Rx-8's will no longer be under factory warantee and they will become affordable. So fellow rotor heads can take the wheel from soccer moms and stupid guys who drive them because they are the next new thing....

I'm a headlight flipper.

The 8 guys are funny... They hardly notice my 7 but they tend to gawk at my Cobra.

Go figure

Amazingly, I've seen a 2nd Gen, driven by an older lady so she just gave a dumb founded look, the 8 drivers don't seem to have a clue, nor really give a look, towards a 7, a 3rd Gen I've hanged on to going down a straightaway, but when I got beside him, he didn't give a look (older guy) and yet I pull beside a 300M with some big rims in a parking lot, the owner, an elder black guy, complimented on my 7 and remarked how he used to own one. Go figure, it's the one's who DON'T drive the 7 that give more recognition. But that's here with my luck anyways. Not a whole lot of 1st Gens around here, tho. A few 2nd Gens, but mostly SOME 3rds. Maybe I need to move. *L*

Whenever I see another 7 I give them a good wave. I've only seen two Rx8's around here, and one was a lady in her 30's that owned an FB when she was younger. We talked for quite a while. The other one is a really hot asian girl, but I only see her when I am with other people in their cars. Never talked to he to find out if she knows anything about 7's (other than the FD anyway).

the eight owner are always pissed off cause they don't have the flip ups like big bro 7

I usually shoot other seven owners the duce (like bikers do) Most every single seven owner around here shoots it back at me I have done the headlight jesture before but with no response.

hmm i raced an 8 off from the lights about a year ago, broke my gearbox doing so LOL, but it wasnt that quick - i was on its bumper until the clunk at the top of 2nd gear, i think they have a bit more weight on board than the 1st gens (13b btw)

i usually give a thumbs up out the window or a rev or whatever is easy
