Proper way to "lock" a diff. (pics)
I cut and welded a metal plate into both sides of the gear arrangement so all four gears are solidly tied together. I dare this sonofabitch to break.
Also, a teaser pic of my 13BT swap. Just need to put a FPR and exhaust in and she'll be ready to fire up.
Microtech installed in the glovebox...
which will be hidden by this panel.

Very very nice setup, I hope some day to also be throwing down some big horsepower with my car with a nice swap like this! If you don't mind me asking what are you doing for the oil cooler? Are you just running the stock frontmount? And do you happen to have another thread detailing your motor swap in more detail?
Thanks!
Thanks!

It just may break. The way you did it looks good, but my uncle knew a guy who was a car junkie and a Ferrari machanic and he had his own machine shop in is garage. One of the tools he used when welding a diff is a oven to heat up the diff to an un-godly temperature to make a better bond between the diff and whatever he was welding to it. He welded one for my uncle's race car and it lasted 3 seasons road racing, while everyone else went through about 2-3 diff's per year. BTW The way everyone else did it was to put nuts and bolts inside the spider gears and weld it all together. The way you did it looks much better.
I problem with the "poor man's posi" is the fact the gears are cast and cast doesn't like to be welded unless it's preheated to about 1,500 degrees F, and requires a stick or wire meant to weld cast iron which is an alloy or combination of two or more metals, but it'll hold for a while, how long is unknown though.....

It's only a temporary measure until I can get my Guru Torsen anyway.
