yea black does look good, sanded most of the runs/bugs out of the clear yesterday and started to polish it up, getting a lot of swirl marks so i'll have to find something good to remove those...

New pics coming soon, once I have the doors hung I'll snap some shots.
At the moment I'm color sanding and buffing the body. Starting to look pretty good, most of the runs and orange peel is gone, just working on getting all the fine scratches and swirl marks out. Still have lots to do before this thing is back together though..... ugh

Wow man! The black looks excellent. That's the hardest solid color one can throw down. It show's every little imperfection, but All I saw was glass on yours. Very sweet! I'm not sure how I missed your thread, but it would have helped me with my project for sure. Thanks man. Get some more pics uP!!!!!!!!

Almost done with the body work, just need to paint the bumpers. Here are a couple new pics. the hood is actually bolted on, but the fenders are just hanging there for the pics. Obviously the wheels aren't attached either
Thanks for the compliments guys

Thanks guys! Yea its funny how good it looks with the wheels just sitting there and the fenders hung with two bolts.... I'll be working on the bumpers this week and also getting the carpet and remaining interior back in the car. Not sure when this thing will actually be back on the road, but at least its starting to look like something!
nice to see more updates on there ... I just dropped off my shell to get painted. Me and scott did all the body work, i know of still a couple of spots here and there that weren't perfect so I told him to fix it up if he could. I'll try to race you for who finishes first
Still need to get my rack and pinion to come in.

You're on
I got my rack and pinion a week ago, but still so much else to do... I'm in no rush though, trying to make it as perfect as i can... It might be driveable before winter, but if it isn't no big deal....

Billy provides a new lower half of the steering column which is attached to the stock upper shaft and it all goes inside the stock column tube. He has pics of the whole thing installed on his website. And when I get to installing it I will make a seperate thread just for it.

If you've ever taken one apart you'll see that there the shaft is two pieces held together in the middle by plastic pins, these are what cause the column to collapse in an accident. You drill those out, and reuse the top shaft, he gives you a new lower shaft and some alumiunum rod to keep it collapsable. Can't wait to install it....
Looking sweet Sean!! Great exhaust and nices wheels too. I'm diggin it. Rack n pinion, I'm envious. I just need to get off my butt and make one up for my self. You're gonna have a brand new car when you are done. Very Rad!

Thanks for the compliments guys! I took off today and tomorrow, and today I got the bumpers painted, so other than the middle spoiler piece that I want to redo (clear had a lot of runs for some reason) I'm done with paint! I'll be spending tomorrow working on that spoiler piece and putting the doors, fenders etc on the car. It's starting to come together finally! I'll post pics tomorrow.
And John, looks like I'll have that rack and pinion in the other car in a week or two, then I can come up with that sway bar, so; soon!

Pogi1: I just pm'd you back.
trini1stgen: I don't have a whole lot of pictures of the omp mod, but I will look around for the few I do have and post them tonight hopefully. I basically drilled and tapped a few holes in the SE front cover that line up with the S5 omp holes. It's not ideal, and I am considering redoing it at some point. I have only run this engine a few times, haven't driven it yet, so I can't say how long it will last, but another memeber did the same thing and got many miles out of it.
As for updates the paint is officially done, and the body itself is basially reassembled. Still have to put the headlight lids on , the front airdam, and I have to adjust the drivers door a bit. Still much to do though, it will be a few months still before its a a car again... Pics to follow...
