Progress on my car. WIth pics :D
Sam, you should bring her over to Lansing for the 2 day autocross coming up in a couple of weeks. I think I'll be getting a room, so if you (and maybe Chris, if he can make it) want to share then no problem.
Your car is looking great! I really wish I could have made it down to Zoom Fest this year, it would have been great to cruise down there with you. But get your Canadia crew together and lets get some rotaries tearing up the state capital!

lol... I just took over 2 weeks off work ... I'll see what I can do. What days is it? I also have to go to another race at Cayuga sometime in august, so I'll have to see.
Sam at Zoomfest in Georgia last weekend. That green machine is one fine car, even nicer in person. (Sam is pretty cool too.) Sam I'm totally impressed, did you make it to Florida?

Sam, very nice to see my old shell touring the States. I think it's traveled more than I have since it was first sold in California, lol. The new wheels will really set the paint off.

London ON > Savannah GA > Suwanee GA > Braselton GA > Winter Garden FL > Daytona FL > Orlando FL > Tampa FL > Naples FL > Miami FL > Jacksonville FL > Savannah GA > Deals Gap NC/TN > London ON
The last day I drove from 6am to midnight. Was definatly a fun trip, got to meet quite a few forum members and a few company owners like Billy at Re-Speed, Jimmy at Fuji Racing, Kilo from Kilo Racing and so on.
Also had a share of hiccups along the way too mostly the first day in Ohio.
Megasquirt power relay go bad (didn't know what it was till after it did some more damage)
Megasquirt Firmware corrupted from being turned on and off all the time
Air temp sensor showing -1600*F thought it was a bad sensor so i bought one but turned out was part of the MS Firmware
Both Radiator Panels coming off and had to hold the radiator with Zip ties
From turning on and off the computer all the time without proper shutting down the Motherboard got fried
Hand brake cable broke off
So ya the first like 4 or 5 days were just horrible. But I worked out through them and got the car driveable for the track, and finished off the rest of my plans (called in work to take a few more days off to make up for the bad ones), and was all well worth it. Definatly not a quiter, but i thought about it after being down for about 8 hours in Ohio. Even though about hiking it to the next town and just getting a U-haul and trail it back.

Ohio is bad luck. Years ago on my first big road trip I locked my keys in the RX-7 outside of Toledo. Luckily I was able to get a coat hanger...
Sam, I parked behind your car last night while eating at Swiss Chalet. Is the exhaust quieter with those tips?

I see that you noticed those, sorry they didn't look the greatest it was a quick thing before leaving to the trip. It actually makes a huge difference! On the highway according to my buddy's iphone without the tips I'm close to 103 decibles inside the car. With the tips on, I'm down to about 95-96 decibels. So about 1/3 the sound. I can enjoy the music from my car at only 1/2 the volume on as oppose to full blast and still barely hearing it without the tips on there.
And actually on the highway I was more annoyed my other peoples tire noise and trucks turbo spooling somethings that I don't hear often in my car. And I did get quite a few thumbs up while driving, as oppose to just people looking at me all the time and giving me a bad look.

Rubber will wait ... that trip cost me about as much in phone bills as one week of my vacation ~500$ thanks to breaking down and having to call around furiously with roaming charges.

Well I guess I could update this thread now. The car underwent a new exhaust change that seems to be netting quite a bit more ponies:
https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generation-specific-1979-1985-18/how-make-youre-own-muffler-781212/
Also right now I'm working on making the intake possibly a bit more efficient and thanks to that new exhaust, the engine is a bit more thirsty now so I'm adding another bank of injectors in there, pics of that can be seen here:
https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generation-specific-1979-1985-18/12a-intake-port-dimensions-894628/
And I'm also doing a few cosmetic things along the way. The Air horns have been polished, so is that new muffler tip. I'll get pictures of that once the muffler tip has been done. I'm going to "try" to finish off the interior a bit more too but we'll have to wait and see on that one, thats always last priority.
I've had a bit of fuel issues and I'm upgrading pumps now. I'm getting the Bosch 044 one, and mounting it intank like the original setup. I would like to make a whole new gas tank maybe later on this year to help me combat fuel starvation at the track under 1/2 tank of fuel.
Also a few more goodies from Re-speed will be underway soon. I have the coil overs coming with spring rates of 325 front and 175 rear, also upgrading the shocks to 5 way adjustables with the race inserts that Re-speed offers in the front. Camber plates, I bought some last year, but never installed them so sold them at the same price for a guy that wanted them so another one is on order. Finally going to upgrade my Oil system and remove the beehive to go to a front mount using Re-speed one piece billet oil pedestal.
Once everything is in and going I will be adjusting my ride height, taking it to a specialist for tuning the suspension geometry, than its onto the corner scales again to fix my cross weight and split weights.
So as you can tell I've been a busy puppy running around getting everything. I'll post more as installs go underway. But I hope it pays off in this race season when I close in a bit more on those 3rd gens at the track
and supercharger has been put off for yet another year.

The plan is to pickup alot of parts there ... so yes.
I hope I can refinish my car on time, its been looking pretty tight. I've been up till 6-7am for a few nights now manufacturing parts and doing that intake manifold. I just need to manufacture a fuel rail, do the plumbing for it, install the pump, manufacture a fitting for the pump to accept an intank strainer, upgrade the megasquirt to a newer firmware, redo all my tuning with second set of injectors now, get injector pigtails, finish off the front suspension, and I think thats about it lol .

Cool. With any luck, I'll be there too.
Looks like I'll have to pull the motor/tranny back out again though.
I just got it installed yesterday with the new clutch, then found that
the throwout bearing moves freely, rather than engaging/disengaging
the clutch.
So right now, I'm a tad frustrated.

Here's a shot of my new fuel pump along with the fittings that I fabricated for it. Also that's a picture of the new filter that it will be accepting.

More pics. I pretty much finished fabricating my fuel rail and supporting hardware for it, also built a simple heatshield for my intake. They're not 100% finished yet but will be very soon.

Lol ... I guess so eh, from the gold wheel to this, I'm sure I'll find a few more things to slap on some gold stuff onto lol. Maybe I can cover the whole engine with it. That would be really sweet actually! Imagine opening up the engine bay and barely being able to look at it because of the relfection of the sun hitting your eye lol. Thanks for the idea!
