Are Pressed Rubber in FB Tranny Mounts replaceable?
I took my tranny out and sure enough the mount between the tranny and cross member was broken. No big deal, I can order that through mazdatrix.
BUT, I also noticed one of the round rubber pieces that are pressed into the cross member itself is broken. So the long bolt with washer isn't really holding the right side of the crossmember tight to the frame of the car.
Anyone ever replaced this?

They're not pressed in, just another set of round rubber mounts. Over time they'll shape themselves into the transmission crossmember.
Black Dragon sells them and I'd think you can still get them from a Mazda dealer.

I'm pretty sure they are pressed in.
Thanks for the feedback guys, but after looking at BlackDragon, I think I might have a different crossmember. This is for an 85 GSL-SE and it looks like Mazda changed the design after 83.
The BD catalogue offers an "Insulator Washer" for 79-83. For 84-85 it only offers a "Bolt-Crossmember" and a lock washer.
It looks like mine has a pressed-in rubber insulator. Take a look at the pictures attached and tell me what you think….

I purchased the trans cross member isolators, bolts, and big washers from the dealer for my 1985 GSL a couple of years ago when I converted for a auto to manual trans. Here it is all laid out. This is an automatic cross member but the isolators, bolts, and big washers are the same between auto and manual based on taking several apart.
Yeah, thats weird, mine looks nothing like that. I have two long bolts that attached my crossmember to the frame, not a double ended stud thingy like you show there. Maybe its a GSL-SE thing?

Color me wrong, Series 3 cross members are indeed different:
From the 84-85 parts catalog:

Compared to the 81-83:

I bet it was redesigned to be more robust than the sandwiched rubber bushings.

Thank God! I thought I was going crazy. You should have seen me beating the crap out of that thing trying to get the old broken rubber out of there. My wife even came into the garage to see what was going on and the I said, "The guys on the forum swear these things aren't pressed in!"
And thank you for that part number. It looks like those isolators are not replaceable, so I will need the entire crossmember.
Where did you find the parts catalog? Is that online somewhere?
Thanks again guys!

Now that I think of it I may have done this back when I did the
clutch (1991?). Too long ago to remember.
