190 hp prelude is a jspec h22.
the other honda motor in ludes the h23 i think is a single cam and no where near that.

honda wins by 2-4 cars depending on how he and you drive.
itll be a horrible loss unless he is a bad driver and you are a good driver.

Didnt notice your post...whoops.
hondas you can beat
civic si with SI motor
crx with SI motor
civic hatch with SI motor
integra GSR-with a bad driver
you MAY be able to take out a b16 civic coupe depending on driver skill and car weight. a crx or hatch will be to fast.
any h22 or b20 car will have you for lunch.

His race proved you right. I used to own a 85gs 12A stock and traded it in for a 93 Prelude VTEC (h22) and the Honda was way faster than the 7, but it still wasn't all that fast. I would think a FB modded to 150+ HP should do fone against it. My Prelude was really bad with wheel hop when I ran off a line.

Well, I'll be damned if I let that be all she wrote. This weekend I'm 1) Doing a direct fire conversion with Wacko, 2) getting rid of the presilencer and installing a straight pipe instead and 3) putting larger secondary fuel jets. Then I'll take any extra weight of the car that can be easily removed, spare tire, tool bag, extra gallon of coolant, subwoofer, and then I'll try it again, making sure he doesn't shut down at 70 but goes at least to 80-90.

I don't think you know much of what you're talking about when it comes to preludes... in fact, you just don't, it's not questionable.

J spec H22's are either 200 hp, or 220hp.. not 190, that is the stock 4th gen prelude USDM H22 hp flywheel output, 190, which came in every single vtec model prelude here, DOHC VTEC, they run high 14's low 15's stock. The H23 is a 160 hp 156 ft-lb tq DOHC non VTEC engine, came in every Si model 4th gen prelude, which is still faster than a stock or relatively stock SA/FB 12A.. stock Si preludes run mid 15's. Even the slowest 4th gen prelude engine (the F22- SOHC non vtec 135hp 142tq) will probably beat a stock 12a.. these came in the S model prelude which run high 15's low 16's stock.

There's just a little fyi rundown of the 4th gen prelude... just to get the facts in this thread straightened out.

As far as the race is concerned... good luck man, definately let us know how it goes!

Personnally I don't think many ludes stand a chance. In my stock '81 GSL with a few carb adjustments wasted pretty much any honda out there. I beat a '00 Civic Si with intake and header with straight exhaust. I wailed on a '99 VTEC lude. Never raced a '95 VTEC although I hear they are pretty quick. If the lude wins then it will be close. As far as my experience goes with my FB and ludes. I've never lost to one.

Bad drivers can make anything happen in either direction... but good driver vs good driver, the lude should win hands down, by a lot.

I revved to 4,500 rpm and got the jump thanks to the rwd. By the end of 1st he had caught up with me, shift to 2nd at 7500 rpm and he starts to walk away, by the end of 2nd at 7500 rpm he was about 2 cars ahead, but when I was gonna do the 3rd gear pull he shut down at about 70 mph so couldn't squeeze the juice out of 3rd gear, only take it to about 5k rpm. Then we went from a couple or rolls from about 30 mph but he also shut down every time at around 70. Fortunately there is hope because I had recently changed primary fuel jets from 155 to 150 to handle some sputtering at 3-4k rpm, but haven't had the chance to compensate with bigger secondary jets. I was actually accelerating better at 4 rpm when opening the mech secondaries with the 155/175 combo. So now I need to get 180s, maybe 185s to compensate for the smaller primary jets.

Anyways, I got killed.

where is this honda owner at?!!! im comming down, see if he will race a automatic rx7, and ill bring a chick to drive it!!

well lets see here

1 will help a little
2 removing presilencer wont help at all
3 if the car pulled hard through 3rd gear, bigger jets will only slow it down(leaner=faster until too lean= detonation) p.s. you need a wideband to properly tune your carb, do you have one?

removing 100 pounds = one tenth in the 1/4 mile

is your motor ported?

you need help, eat some cheese
