Prelude vs. GSL - who would win?

I have a friend that has a Prelude like this http://www.import-heaven.net/specs_h...ude_vtec.shtml

He says he's pushing 200 hp but the specs in the link says 190. With 2932 lbs against a little under 2400 lbs we have basically the same power to weight ratio, estimating that my engine pushes about 150 hp. Anyways, he wants to race me and I have gratiously accepted, but then I wondered if I'm a match for his VTEC. We'd probably do a 1/4 mile and maybe one from a roll in the highway.

Who do you guys think would win? is it close enough that it's a matter of who's the best driver?

You only pushing 150hp with a SP and those other mods? Wow. I would have thought 175 or 180..

VTEC's are pretty quick and nimble but the match-up sounds close, IMO.

you will loose due to so many wrong reasons. first, get rid of that restrictive exhaust. secondly, do a direct fire. finally, get rid of that mechanical fan. every little thing will help.

Also, stop messing around with that carb. listen to Sterling and Carl.

This is my estimation, I'm trying to not overestimate, so I'd rather underestimate. I've never dynoed the car.

lol Wacko, headers to mid connecting pipe to PP muffler restrictive? damn you are demanding.

And messing around with the carb has improved the engine's performance, so shut up, don't make me e-slap you!

Yeah good idea maybe I'll place a camera and a guy in the Prelude to film it, plus also to add some extra weight

for a single exhaust, 2" is way too small. offer still stands on the direct fire, just for the bracket And of course, beer

Ok I'll take you on about that direct fire offer. Let me recover from financial ruin in say, a week or two and we'll do it.

you could win w/ the efan, dfire, IDA, and true dual exhuast piping

my previous FB was tied against an RSX type S 6speed w/ all those mods except dfire and IDA... so maybe u do have a good chance

It depends on which model of 4th gen Prelude he has, If he has the '94 to '96 Prelude SRV , then yes he has the 190hp engine, and if your really around 150hp, it would be close.
If he dosent have the SRV model, then he has the stock 2.3L which puts out 160hp. And if your at 150hp, you should win.
The SRV runs 15.1 in the 1/4.
All i know is my FB is faster than my Prelude. But when its all said and done, when its amateurs, 50% is car, 50% is driver.

When you this have the fuel tank at about 1/4, remove your spare tire and increase the tire pressures. If all that fails, tye a couple of small parachutes to his bumper LOL. DONT LET US DOWN... RX7DOCTOR

Hmm. Those Preludes are Crazy Fast off the line for a Front.

But, they have a serious weight disadvantage.

I'm sure the pull from the line is due to the VTEC?

Anyway, does he happen to have one of those hideous spoilers like they normally do? If so, you'll win, simply because of the weight of the spoiler pushing down on wheels that are already having to be pulled. It's sort of like putting a giant wing on the front of a RWD car, in theory

Don't eat anything before the race, don't wear jewelry or underwear. No spare tire, no twelve pack behind the seat, pull out the radio and speakers. Remove the brakes (won't need 'em, right?) and all of the body work. Windshield wipers, headlights, and that little air freshener could go too. Then if you lose, don't bother coming back home! LOL.
