Power steering... or lack thereof
I just bought an 1985 GSL-SE. It is bone stock. Which means no power steering. Would the FB veterans recommend that I put one in or keep it without. I'm starting to get used to having to use my muscles but I'm not sure how much, or even, if not having power steering slows reaction times.
My plans for this car are autocross, Pacific Grand Prix and other time attacks, and spirited back road driving.
What are you suggestions?

I disabled and bypassed my power steering unit when I got my GSL and it required repair. Never missed it as compared to other non-power 7s I've owned. Car has been used for the same things you are looking to use yours for. For a real improvement, invest in the Re-Speed quick ratio R&P conversion, instead.

I have an '84 formerly with power steering. I first disabled it but I was not happy with the slop and I went with the Re-Speed kit and I could not be happier. The best $1k I spent so far.

its supposed to do that
Every PS equipped rx7 I have ever driven had "wonder-steer," as in " I wonder where its going to steer next."
The manual rack is a nice improvement to a PS car, the Re-speed setup is an incredible improvement.
