If you can, post pics of both units side by side. Is the hose that is too short the low pressure one? The high pressure one has threaded fittings. If it's the low pressure one, replace the hose, it probably needs it after 20+ years anyway.

sry for crappy pictures.

I got alot of the old one which is prob pointless but i couldnt get under teh car because of the dang cloths I was wearing ,maybe later.

but here they are

the old powersteering pump sticks straight up almost, mistake in the picture,

the new one sticks way out, but it fits.

I dont have it bolted onto the car in the pictures.

I just need a longer hose anyone have a longer hose??

here is the difference between the low pressure.

I am thinking it is a 2nd gen ps pump or a 3rd gen,

I just need a longer hose.

2nd gen pumps are entirely different. Just get a longer hose and you should be good. Are you sure the new one came off a 7, or perhaps another Mazda?

I think you have to have a steering box that supports it?

Take the short hose off, take it to the parts store, tell them what it's for and how much longer of a hose you need. Bring the new hose home and install it. Done. Finished. Fini.

What I could also tell you is if the pumps are identical, the tanks can be changed. However, unless you can find the odd rubber gaskets for the tank, if will probably leak.
