Power Side Mirror / Column Issue

the side mirrors no longer move when the switch pressed. outside of that the hi beams dont activate when the left switch is thrown forward. Its probably a contact issue as oppossed to a pathway/component issue.

Also

Im planning on troubleshooting the side power windows on my GSL. aside from the typical check fuses and what not.

any insider knowledge or common things to check? Its a bit cold here im my area and id rather have a bit of direction. Any thing i can do with a multimeter? test for power/ continuity and what not.

Cleaning your power window switches will help bring them back to life. Also lithium grease on the gears and rails inside the doors. Mine needed manual intervention to lower until I cleaned the switches and added grease.

You high beam contacts are in the combination switch and need to be cleaned off. They get pitted and peaked. 400-600 grit sandpaper followed by rubbing alcohol bath with Q-tips, or contact cleaner.

How to remove the combination switch:

Previous response after I had mine apart for the same reason.

Images of the inside of the combination switch. Save these. Print them. Makes the task 1000x easier.

I often use the Advance Search option. Search by title or key words and limit the search to the 1st generation specific forum. (That's how I found all of the above.)
