I don't know if all 1st gens. have power assist steering, but my 7 does.Its suppose to help you out in parking lots, and slow turns and such, and helps you less the faster you go. But mine doesnt seem to help at all. What could be the issue, is my unit fried?

 

Have you checked to see if you have fluid in the reservoir?
Also I am going to assume the belt is there.

 

Belt?!?! I must not have power assist than. Whats this than just the steering box? The guy I bought it off of told me it had power assist steering.

 

Now you know why I have been ragging on you to dowload a copy of the FSM. You would of been able to determine that you did not have P/S by going to the appropriate section and viewing the system.:-)


And yes, that is just the steering box.

The GSL had leather as an option, also it came with power windows only, power mirrors, cruise. Headlamp sprayers were a Canadian thing I believe. The targa band was a factory option and so was a spoiler.
P/S was strictly optional on the GSL. A/C could have been removed or not wanted by the orginal purchaser.
To determine if you originally had A/C you could see if you still have the A/C condenser in front of the radiator or in the car on the passenger side the Fan blower and ducting was different for the A/C versus non-A/C vehicles.
