ported intake manifold

i picked up an intake manifold today at the junk yard in plans to port it. would it be worth my time and effort to put it on my engine with a stock port. or just save it for something later if i ever get around to getting a streetported engine in my car? i just know the streetport thing isnt going to be for while. i know theres still going to be an intake restriction on the port from the engine, but is it worth it for the intake manifold?

be wary of porting the manifold, many people have tried this and lost horsepower.

a 79 manifold is superior and will make a inprovement.

if you want to port it talk to peejay, he does alot of this stuff.

Go to the 2nd Gen forum and check out one of the stickies... It goes through porting the intake and has pictures, along with areas not to port etc.

That's for F.I. engines.

Don't waste your time with a ported manifold. Unless you are in an ITA/SCCA "stock" class that won't let you upgrade - then get a new carb and manifold.

From memory Guru Peejay was against porting the inlet manifold as the existing mismatch helped the fuel/ air flow.
