Port a used engine?

Just for conversation, how smart/unsmart would it be to teardown and either bridge or street port an engine with 60K miles and putting it back together with the same parts.

It's what I did.... ran great 'cepting for the overrevving it and blowing the engine part.

Trick is you gotta mic' EVERYTHING. And get everything totally clean...

what about doing that to a 13b with 220k? I've got it just sitting in the gararge with a blow water seal, and i always had that idea but just don't know if its worth it?

i hope you got all the coolant outa the combustion chambers.. otherwise.. its HIGHLY likely that ALL your seals are brittle and broken from the dryed coolant, plus it may have rusted depending on how long its been sitting

well even if the seals weren't gone i was planning on gettin new ones. I have sprayed oil in the chambers whenever i happen to remember so i hope that won't be a problem. But other than that should there be anything else to look out for. Does the high Km's cause a problem?

how does coolant make steel go brittle?

That's like saying if you blow a head gasket on a boinger you have to replace the piston rings too...

motors

Hey guys, you can rebuild and crazy port high kms motor, but as was said eariler you MUST measure and clean every last piece. I have all the "high tech" measuring equipment at the shop, if you guys are going to build motors and want to get parts checked for tolerances I'd be glad to help you out, ciao
