pops at 5k

My 85 12A lets the floodgates of smoke down at anything above 4500~5000rpm. Thick white smoke with a tint of blue. I know not why: help?

Sounds like oil control o-rings. Try some Lucas Oil Treatment.

I agree. Run a search for "lucas heavy duty oil stabilizer" and you will find plenty of info. Also, make sure your oil level is not too high...
