points to electronic distributor
I know there has to be a thread on this, but I cant find one that answer the question so I understand.
I have a points distributor with one 3 pin harness, the new electronic has two 3 pin plugs. what in simple terms is the wiring for the second harness. Is there a real clear schematic somewhere?
Thanks

Makovai,
Love both your cars, man...really nice.
What are you talking about? Color me stupid, but why would an electronic distributer have points ? What is a BBC ? What is a unilite ? Please define / expand on the "upgrade" you can't believe nobody has done.

He wants to upgrade his point ignition to electronic ignition. I am not sure if there is a write up on this or not, but the easiest way to go about it, you will need:
- electronic dizzy
- wiring harness
- coils for electronic ignition
Just get all of these from a wrecking yard and you will be set. Another option is to just buy new coils if you want a bit of an extra upgrade in the process. You can't use your old coils, though. I have a couple spare diamond coils for electronic ignition if you want them.
David: BBC= Big Block Chevy
Unilite=Mallory ignition module
He is saying that if he doesn't get help on this, he will put a Chevy in it.

I hope so. I had to look up the unilite thing myself. I am still not sure what he means about having two three prong connectors, as the only connectors for the electronic ignition are the 2 two prong connectors for the igniters and then the individual connectors for the coils.

Thanks guys looks like I have some reading to do.
Thats exactly what I meant. Getting rid of the points and going to electronic distributor.
BTW - I was wrong. they are 2 prong and they have a 3rd prong that holds the plug together.
BBC = Big Block Chevy
Unilite is a optic type mallory distributor
BF = Blinker fluid
BTW = By the way
Anyway ...I really appriciate the help. I'll leave my BBC in the vette, and continue to be a Rotard.
Thanks again.
