Yeah I am worried about smog. Come smog time, I may have to put the stock nikki, the airpump, the cat, and all that other crap back on for a day. As far as the street port goes, I think I'll be okay.

No prob. I'll see what I can do.
Hey, thanks. I really appreciate it.
you want to "clean up" the ports with the temp. they sell you and then polish the "runners" on this 84-85 6 port im doing now its killer ....when you used 200 grit to fine sand it
Ok, so I use the templates, trace out the port, grind out the port, and then sand it all nice and smooth? Thats about what I figured, but I thought Id ask anyway...Its for an 83 GSL though...So I dont know if Im supposed to sand the ports or not...Also, someone said its the shape not the size that counts more (which makes sense), but if I follow a template TO THE LETTER (not that Im that good, just asking) isint that gonna be the "perfect" shape and then all I have to do is make it nice and neat, and blend it into the stock port and everything? Im pretty sure I know what everyone is saying, and the pictures I have seen so far are good, so I think I know what Im shooting for, but i just thought I would ask...

Don't grind it smooth, smooth or you'll lose some port efficiency. 2000 grit is way too smooth. A slightly "rough" surface on the port's walls creates a wall surface turbulence that acts like a sheet of extremely small ball bearings (best way I can think of to describe it...)for the column of fuel/air being ingested to "ride" on. It is much less a frictional loss than contact with the port wall itself...WTYM...

Yep, and by keeping the airflow turbulent it also helps keep the fuel in suspension.

Ok, so I should just grind it out, and leave it? Or should I grind it out, and then kinda smooth it just to get rid of some of the major rough areas? Damn it...I dont know what Im shooting for...I need engine pieces to practice on...rotortuner (I think it was him) said he would give me some front/center/end plates to practice on, but I emailed him and didnt get a response...Anyone have some housings, or front/center/end plates that I can practice on?
