Pictures of my Mazdatrix 12A streetport
I started this thread to post pictures of my engine as it is being built. It's a Mazdatrix level "C" rebuild with street porting and it will be running with a racing beat / holley carb setup.

You're not going to believe how much louder your exhaust will be when you get that thing back together. The exhaust ports on my RP streetport were the same and it was still not quiet after going through a hi-low 2.5" cat, 2.5" Edelbrock RPM SS muffler routed into two 2" Flowmasters. At idle, it was quiet enough to talk without raising your voice, but if the rpm's were up, you had to crank the stereo to hear it and forget about normal conversation...

yeah i don't think there is a way to get mine to quiet down it is just too loud. When the guy said it was a good port but not as big as he could have gone. I think he meant he could of bridged it. I love the sound but is it ever loud.

Hell No, John at Mazdatrix is porting and assembling the whole engine. I'll will be putting it back in the car.
Before I blew the last motor, the car was super quiet. It'll be interesting to see how loud it will be. Right now I only have the Racing Beat Single header / exhaust setup. I've been trying to get ahold of this guy who is suppose to sell me a used dual RB Racing exhaust, but I've had little luck. I'm not sure if it's worth it to fork out the dough for a new one.

Is there any way you can get me some more pictures of those front/center/rear plate intake ports? Or any of the intake/exhaust ports for that fact? Im looking into porting my own engine, and I need to know what to "aim" for .

Oh, and do you actually port these when you street port an engine? Because Ive only seen the templates for the intake port and the exhaust port...I think?

I'll probably have some reason to go there next week, I can try to snap a couple more pics of the porting if the engine is'nt together yet. Can you be more specific on the shots you want?

I think you just port it enough so the entire port flows through nice and smooth, but I'm not sure.

These are the templates I would be interestred in for the street port, but there is no template for the "other" side of the intake port. Theres the template for the end of the port "inside" the engine, but nothing for the end of the port that the manifold bolts up to (the end of the port shown in the photo above)...If you follow me...

I would assume that porting the red circle area is a no-no, 'cause it has to do with the intake manifold, and the fuel flow and turbulance, etc.
I could be way off base though too...

Mostly, I am interested in the intake ports shape, and how they "blend" the larger street port outline into the stock port lines...If that makes sense. Anything close up showing depth/shape would be nice. Anything would be cool. I think Im pretty clear on the exhaust ports, but anything you can give is cool. Thanks a bunch in advance if you can get me anything .

porting is all about practice. and noteveryones streetport looks the same or develops the same amount of power. when you get to it youll see that its not necesseraly how big it is but the shape that it has what makes a port job good.

you want to "clean up" the ports with the temp. they sell you and then polish the "runners" on this 84-85 6 port im doing now its killer ....when you used 200 grit to fine sand it
