I Confess! I got beat by my own car!
We had another SCCA autocross here in Louisville over the weekend. Jeremy here on the boards came up and codrove my '80. It was an eventful day. Halfway through our runs, I had to leave and fuel the car as it was cutting out by mid course. My first run, which ended up being my best clean run got me a 52.112. From then on out, my one wheel of fury combined with a very sandy lot and my unwillingness to let off of the gas pedal yielded me lots of amusement park riding, and very little racing. I finally got back on track my 5th run with a 51.613, but I clipped a cone in the Chicago Box and defeated myself.
Jeremy, like just about every other person I have seen codrive someone elses car, was very timid during his first three runs. I believe his fastest time out of those was somewhere in the 53.xxx neighborhood. I told him to quit holding back and drive the car. He should be beating me as he has a 150 lb. weight advantage (yes, I am that big). I tried to assure him that it is not my daily driver and if something broke, it just broke. No big deal. His next run put him into a 52.4xx if I remember correctly. His last run, he pulled out a 51.xxx squarely beating me in my own car. The meanie!
Oh well, I did tell him to.
For anyone else looking to do some autoxing in this area, the next event will be 9/8 in Lexington, KY followed by 9/22 here in Louisville, KY. For more info, go to these sites:

actually my secret was having my brother ride copilot. if the rear wheel on his side started to spin he'd grab it. wasn't as good as lsd but hey, what are brothers for. and james, you know you would have been in the 50's if you could have kept from imitating the round up. i think its because you let me ride with you. the intimidation................
I nearly got beat by my brother co-driving my car. But I could not let that happen and took him by a couple of seconds on my very last run.
My buddy took a mutual friend to co-drive his T2 at an autocross, and got spanked in his own car. I believe it was the Friends first Autocross also. Shameful.
