Picture Request
Anybody have a Sa body style Rx7 with the racing beat exhaust with all of the emissions still attached to the engine?
If anybody does can you share a picture or two of the engine bay on both sides?
I have a rust hole in my exhaust right before my muffler making my car way louder and not as appealing as it should be, well my exhaust is the worst part of the car as a whole. Temporarily this should be my only mod to the car.

the problem is that when removing the thermal reactor, there are other emissions parts that need to be removed and or blocked off. so, you can build an exhaust after the thermal reactor or after the heat exchanger.. if i were you, i would just replace the current muffler with a racing beat muffler and leave the rest.

I may have some old pix at home from when I was running RB headers & presilencer, around the time of SevenStock 6 or so.
I did block off the ACV, HeatEx Feed and the EGR, and I pulled the air pump, but I retained the ratsnest and the bulk of the emcon gear. I even put the heat shields over the headers.

Here are some pics of what I'm dealing with.

What I'm trying to see if how many of the emissions I have to remove or block off. If it's like the air pump or a couple other things that's fine by me.
Divin if you have any of the pics it would help me tremendously. I'm more of a visual person.
Why would I replace my muffler?
Thanks

Those first two pictures are of the thermal reactor cooling jacket's hot air exhaust pipe; it carries hot air from the outside of the TR jacket and front section of the "Air Duct" (the first main exhaust section) out the rear of the car. It doesn't handle exhaust at all - - unless you have a fracture in the TR or the Air Duct.
I'm running full emissions on my car but I deleted that final section because only the factory muffler includes it - the RB muffler does not include that final section. My hot air exhaust just ends right at that junction, with no ill effects, & passes smog just fine.
The actual "exhaust" pipe (the midpipe, between the heat exchanger and the muffler) is above that sheet-metal heat shield. Even with the full RB system, you use the stock midpipe.
The third pic to me looks like only surface rust, nothing structural or functional looks bad.
Not counting the muffler, here's some pix I took of all the components I removed when I switched to the RB exhaust:

I'll have to look on my system at home for shots of 'after' config in the bay; none on Photobucket a t the moment.

Sweet thanks man!
Um, so if it's hooked up to the thermal reactor, in your opinion what are my options to fix or replace the spot in question?
I took the pic of the muffler because it's all surface rust, no big deal.

Well, the part that's rusted away is right next to the friction-fit connector that has a sort of a coupling gasket in it. A muffler shop could probably fab up something similar, and it doesn't need to be absolutely air-tight; again, it's just a hot-air vent that runs parallel to the muffler.
As I recall, the final section of that pipe is welded to standoffs on the muffler itself, so replacing it would involve cutting it off the standoffs, bending up the right shape of pipe, fabbing the connection, then welding the pipe to the old brackets on the muffler.
If you go to an RB header, you will not need it at all - - won't be any place to connect it - - so you'd probably just want it cut free from the muffler & got rid of.

Hmmmm, the whole pipe looks like that from start to finish. If I have a muffler shop take care of it the whole pipe will need to be replaced. I don't believe there is any fresh metal underneath all that.
I'm starting to lean towards a racing beat exhaust. More pros than cons I guess.
