Pic request: D6 + S6 Silver first gens!

Ok, so my first FB was K3 - Sunbeam silver.
I absolutely loved that color, and ever since she's been gone Ive wanted to paint one of my newer FB's silver again.

Now I know how the sunbeam silver looks, but I was just going through the paint codes on rotorhead.ca

and I noticed that there were 2 silver colors of interest I havent seen before.

D6 - Concorde which you could get in '80
and
S6 - Advan from '85.

Now before I go painting my car K3, Id really like to see pictures of the above 2 colors. Im thinking that something that deviates a little bit from the common K3 would be nice, while still retaining a stock mazda color.

Thanks in advance!!

Yes, I am definately a fan of the K3.

However something a little more rare appeals to me.
Seems like the D6 and S6 are prety rare!

And here's my recently acquired 85 GSL, soon to be as pretty as the real pretty GS above. Is that red leather inside? I think mine is the same silver, not sure, might be a little darker. Nice color though.

Yeah now that I see them up there they both look the same and they both look like K3.

Ray, thanks for the compliments. It is red cloth. It is an S model so it is bare bones. Honestly, the picture is alot more forgiving. The paint is extremely faded on the hood, roof, and rear hatch. It's a Texas car so the paint is bad......but there isn't a spot of rust on it...
One more...

I've never seen that S6 advan in pictures or person, looks interesting. My favorite "gray" color has always been a darker gray, must have been the K8 tornado color, that came on a colleagues 1980 RX-7. Back in 1980, when I was young, I drooled over that car, a rich metallic but subtle gray color, the ultimate in cool that made the black trim look like it all was part of the paint.

In fact if I paint the K3 silver one (it's still original and has some years left, but like XLR8's beauty, it's seen some southern sun, BUT NO RUST) I am tempted to make it that dream color of my youth, tornado gray (and of course this 85 GSL has a mint red leather interior to make it all work).

I'd like to see photos of all the silvers and grays lined up, might make it easier to decide. Any concordes, advans or tornados out there?

Ray

was just at the mazda dealer looking around. was looking at the SUV's for work. the cx-7 & 9 comes in a similiar color as sunbeam silver just slightly more metallic. not sure of the name but the code was 22R. like i said the metallic is suttle but i think it would look good on my FB. i wanted to stay close to the original color and it is damn close.

I have no idea what my car's original color is, but it may be K3 ('85 GSL-SE). All the paint on the outside of my car was toast (faded) when i got it, but the underhood was coated with ziebart. I removed it with hinner, and can now see the original color. Is this K3?

I really want to repaint it the same color. Mazda still sells it, right? How much is it? I've started on the body work this week, and I want to know where I can get it.

K3 is the most common silver, and it definately looks like it.

If your really curious you would have to take the car to a paint supply shop if its drivable, and they can come out with a little scanner to record the color. Then they take it in and plug it into the computer and reference all other paints available to find a match.

I would just paint it K3 if I were you.

As for buying the paint, any paint shops should easily be able to mix mazda K3 for you no problem.

k i went with the original, how could i not, after watching the paint fade for 3 years, it seemed like justice

all the badges and lights arent in yet, and im changing the frnt and rear bumper and painting them with the left over paint i had from the batch. The molding is staying off.
