overheating problems

overheating problems

my car overheats in like 10 minutes, i was told that it has to be my water pump i just pulled it out and it seems fine theres is a lil valve cap i dont no if that is bad but ill have to wait to see,ne suggs on why my car is overheating

I would think thermostat.

My car goes up to about halfway in about 5 mins., then the thermostat opens and it settles to the normal operating temperature.

Halfway then down? That doesn't sound normal... My temp gauge never reads past about 1/3 of the guage...

Sounds like a classic example of the thermostat not working properly.

Either that or you have no coolant in the rad. (I'll give you more credit then that.)

no its where the top hose goes into the pump

i just put a new water pump in about 5 mins ago, just cause i had a xtra one hopin that was the problem

Less than $20, use only Mazda thermostats.

my rotator was muddy and dirty as ****, im cleanin right now and gettin a new one hopefully soon could that make my car overheat quickly.

is this the way it is supposed to be on an fb? i have an 85 gsl, and it goes up to the first dash (past halfway) then back down a little bit (to around halfway). this is the way it has been since i bought it over 3 years. anybody?

my rx7 s1 12a 6 port the temp reaches below 1/4 and wont go higher the only time it went half way was when i snapped my fan belt racing..lucky i lived 5 min away from where we were racing....
i never seen a rotor temp running on half way all the time...

I would get your radiator cored out or get a new radiator if your temp stays at halfway. Costs about $100-$140 depending if you take the radiator out yourself or not, but it will save your engine.

I have had 7 Rx-7's and none of them would get hotter than 1/3 if the radiator was in good condition.

My current fb has a motor swap, listed in my signature, and I have the original radiator and it is still running decent temps, even on long trips or traffic.

well, i have had the radiator flushed... is there any way that it could be the guage?
