overheating.......again

ok so those of you who read my other posts you know ive been having some overheating problems lately. well today i found its worse than i thought. i went to autozone to get another alt pulley (new dual belt pulley) and i had to stop several times on the way there and back because it got EXTREMELY hot, hotter than before. on the water temp guage it was probably about 5/6 of the way up or a little more. This happened whether i was stopped or cruising so i dont think its the fan anymore. Well when i get the money i think im gonna have the rad cleaned out by a shop and see if it helps, then replace the water pump since those are the 2 most likely things to go wrong. I need to find out what the **** is going on because i have to go to school in less than a month and the 7 is my only car.

There is this stuff it's called ' water wetter ' made by redline inc. it breaks the surface tension of the fluid for better cooling. I use it, and it works real good. at kragen auto parts stores. it's like $ 12.00 dollors for a pint.

Ya flush it out yourself yet? Do that and see what comes out!

I'd pull the bottom rad hose and drain some of it out to see if there is crap coming out that could be causing the problem.

I never could get my heat under control until I got a new radiator. it was about 150, but i know there are mail order radiators for around 100. a pro flush job would have been about 60, but the dude wouldn't do it because it had what he called rot. it was toast. ever since I got the new radiator, the car keeps cool even during our record Boise heat.

Well I fixed my cooling problem with a rad flush and a new thermosata. I still want to take the pressure washer to the rad but I havent yet.

Replaceing the rad might be your only choice.

Good luck

A new one is only like $140 at autozone. WOrth every penny. My car went from 1/2 on the gauge to now it wont get above 1/3 no matter what. Even in the fl summer with the A/C on. A constant all the time overheating is most likely the rad or water pump. The WP is pretty cheap at autozone too. Cheap piece of mind.

Those damn heater hoses rot from the oil escaping from the beehive, and you lose coolant because one is ahead of the valve. Good luck replacing with standard 5/8 hose fro the auto store: I had to put in $60 worth of factory tubes from mazdatrix.

Oh yeah, I also put in new radiator, pump and hoses, because they all go at the same time.
