There is a little black box in front of the battery. It will say "oscillator" on it. Try to unplug that and see if the sound goes away. Did you recently hose down the engine bay or has there been a lot of rain lately?

The oscillator controls the buzzer for low coolant or low oil. Often if it gets wet, it will cause this buzzer to go off constantly. Unplugging doesn't hurt anything (warning lights still work). Usually things will go back to normal after it dries out.

If it happens again, try what I said and see if it goes away. If it doesn't then we can check a few other things.

That's the oscillator for sure. It's usually just the connection, which gets corroded or wet, as Kent says. If it comes back you can unplug it, it should go away. If you want to have the warning buzzer just cleaning up the connections will usually make it behave.

and don't forget to water seal it after you clean it, so it never happens again.

i'll have to check that the next time mine does that. it only happens during the winter months at first start. after driving alittle while it stops. i think it's louder than the rev buzzer tho. but it is very annoying.

So it came back again and i took your advice and totally disconnected the oscillator. And it didnt go away. But while i was putting it all back together it eventually went away. But it did come back. This is all with the key in the on position. Although I am new to Rx7's the only thing I can think of from this point is the over rev buzzer. But I have had the car to 7500 Rpm and it hasn't gone off. So at this point I am confused. I am waiting for the car too cool down to check the coolant level. But I have checked the oil and brake fluid level and they are both fine though the brake fluid is a little high. And when I sit at a stop the brake pedal gradually goes down believed to be air in lines and i need to bleed them. Will get back to you with the coolant level. Checked it a while back and it was fine. Thanks for the help.

so are you sure its your over rev buzzer and not the key warning buzzer? probably a stupid question, but maybe your warning buzzer is jammed in the ON position.

This is a cardinal symptom of the oscillator. The oscillator contains the soul of your car. It needs to be, not be understood. Just unplug it and plug it back in once in awhile, everything will be fine.

Never knew there was a key buzzer.

To ray green: It did it with the oscialtor connected and disconnected but while I was putting the battery back it went off. Then came back out of the house and it was back on again. Battery was connected the whole time.

Found something else that could possibly be the culprit. The door switch that tells you the key is in and the door is open. My buddy's rx7 does this even when the door is closed so if mine does it again I will check this. Just throwing it out there for anyone else having this problem.

I know in 2nd gen 7's there are 2 buzzers. One in the D/S kick panel in with the flashers, the other inside the gauge cluster. Cluster -> warnings and over rev buzzer, Kick panel -> key in, or door open buzzer. I also can't see in the video, but make sure both oil and coolant lights come on. If the bulb goes you could be low and not know.

They both come on and I've checked both the oil and coolant levels and they are sufficient.
