ordering jdm engine

i was wondering if anyone has ever ordered a 13bt from these jdm engine import websites, i want to find one with everthing..engine,tranny,ecu,wiring harness(un-cut), also i was wondering what people think of them, are they ussually in good enough condition that they dont need a immediate rebuild, eventually i will want to rebuild but i was hoping to be able to just get my swap done because im on limited funds, thanks

jspec sucks total *****. I told the company that I needed it deliverd to a HOUSE, my house so they charged me an extra $150 and I wanted an s4 engine. Some dirty french canadian with absoulutely NO respect (telling me to go make him a sandwich while he waits) came with no lift for the engine (wtf did my $150 go to then) so I had to call a buddy with a tow truck to get it out the back. Then I noticed that it was an s5 model once I took off the plastic. Jpsec sucks and I will always talk bad about them on every thread. Oh and + one of the bolt holes on the tranny was busted off so I have one less bolt holding the tranny on.

And they still haven't refunded my $150 (8months ago)

east coast, but as far as customer service so far so good. I haven't actually bought an engine from them yet though. I'm sure they all come from the same place thought *coughf* japan.

thanks for all the input and help, but that still leaves the question....would it be ok to run the engine without a rebuild for a while, a while may be 5,000miles maybe 40,000 miles what is everyones thought on slapping it in and driving around?

In my opinon, your are better off finding a messed up turbo II, that way you get the wiring, the ecu, the transmission, everything you want/need, and then you can part the rest of the car out and make back a good amount of the money you spent on the car. If you look around you can find running TII's for $2500 to 3k, maybe less since your not really worried about the FC body.

I actually got my full 13bt longblock and tranny for $650, cost me $1040 total. $350 for shipping +$40 canadian border fee. As squishy pillow avatar guy said it is best to just buy a blown TII for $1000-$1500 then rebuild it. BUT the internals could be F'd so it is always a gamble doing it that way. I got my motor from japanstarmotor or some crap like that, comes up nearly first on yahoo search.

I sold that s5 motor to my buddy for same price I got it for, then bought my second motor from these dudes.

Squishy pillow avatar guy, haha, I like that. Yea, I don't know, I just sold my TII with an atkins rebuild, and a lot of modifications done to it already for $2k. It needed a new ECU and wiring harness at the very least, but see, there are deals out there. Kevin Landers at Rotary Resurrection will rebuild a 13bt for $1200 (thats the last price I rem. at least) so thats not too bad. Internals are a issue though as stated by gerbraldy. Did you ever think of going 12a turbo and using a haltech, or other stand-alone? Or just going blow through with a 12aT motor, a rebuild, and some porting? Thats at least what I am considering at this point. Only bridgeporting and turbo'ng because Im a psycho. Anything is possible though, it just depends on how much you want to spend...
