opinions please
I am thinking the red surround on my interior (around stereo & shifter) is too much red. I liked it at first , but?? I am thinking of repainting to either a factory grey or perhaps a matt black to match the instrument cluster. Suggestions please.

I used normal krylon spray pant to get mine glossy black (ignore the stupid ricer e-brake handle, it's now black as can be seen in the pic with my white gauges)
Try the Rust-oleum Hammered Metal paint. The silver is close to the stock color and gives the illusion of some texture. Also come in several other colors including one that looks charcoal black.

oh yeah, go back to black, or grey.
too much color looks just so cheap imo.
small hints of color here and there are classy, but
too much just looks bad.
my car is yellow, and to hint the interior, i've ordered a black leather
shift boot with yellow stitching, and i plan on using a steering
wheel with a hint of yellow (either on the grip, or hub area), but
that's it.

mmmmmm I think my dash would look amazing gloss black heres a picture of it currently... I just dont want it to look like ***, how can you tape off the push button and other stuff so it looks good?
Edit: The more I look at the picture the more i realize how the current color matches the rest of the interior I guess painting the panel isnt for me =(

Your color looks fine. My grey plates were a little scratched from where the previous owner apparently kept his cell phone all the time. To paint them, you have to remove them.

When I had Pam repainted the shop did this, and the instrument gauge bezel, for nothing as they already had the pain set up, etc. and I disassembled the dash pieces for them. I took out the clear bit of the ashtray drawer, so when it was reassembled there were no masking lins in the clearcoat or anything.
The 3 layers of clearcoat give it a 'wet' depth that a simple gossy paint lacks. When it was all assembled again my car was even more often mistaken for a brand-new vehicle. I cannot emphisize enough how using real body colour/clearcoat on accents like this enhances the look.
I agree, though, that red painted plastic with a red interior doesn't have the same contrast. The black goes nicely with the shifter boot, HVAC controls, etc.
Damn I miss that car...
i like Directfreak's interior, but i'd have to say go with a replica of Manntis' interior for your car simply because i'm not sure how well your red would carry off the carbon fiber.
Directfreak ~
on a side note - what is that? are they full CF replacements or some sort of adhesive? looks great, man!
