OMP??what to do with it?yes ive searched
ok. got the car running- thanks to you guys and the mmo...but now working on getting it really running, what do i do with my oil metering pump? for those who dont know ive got a demon 525 cfm carb...where does the metering rod go? do i delete the whole setup? would that be a bad bad idea? should i try and fabricate something to get it to the other side and correlate it with the throttle linkage? and the lines? should i plug those into the vacuum ports on the carb even tho they dont match up at all??any help would be much appreciated...

Another cheap solution is to leave the OMP in place but find a way to fix it in the "full open" position.
Then if you wanted 2-stroke, you could just get an adapter from rotary aviation and a small oil tank. (at that point it stops becoming cheap, but definitely becomes more hands-off.

chiquito...sounds pretty feasable to me...i dont see why that wouldnt work.
pa...i just made one, out of some scrap metal from work, but i know mazdatrix sells them for like 3 or 4 bucks...
jon...been browsing the ra website but cant seem to find the adapter and oil tank youre talking about, not that i could afford it right now, but its nice to know (maybe fabricate something along the lines of what they do) also been dreaming about their seals...seem pretty sweet, now to start building a motor....dreaming still....maybe a third job ha who needs sleep anyways-its over rated....

For simplity, I'd go with Jon's suggestion. I pre-mix in the widebody and find it'a a pita and messy. Part of that is due to the wider fender makes the fill spot deeper from the outside of the fender. I'm always dribbling and getting pre-mix on my hands and can't always clean up at every service station. I have to carry a screw on flexible spout in a baggie so I can get the mix into the tank.
If you decide to mod the carb so the mop system works as the stock one does, you will need to tap for barbs in each primary barrel then fab some sort of lever arm for the throttle shaft and make a new mop rod.

mk, so does the mop just dribble oil into my mix at a fixed rate or does it vary depending on throttle position and rpms? and if i fixed it so it was just at wide open would that put too much oil in the mix and make the plugs foul out faster?
would it be the same thing if i ran a phenolic spacer and tapped two holes for barbs in that?
or the other route with an adapter? what does the adapter adapt ha? does it just replace the omp and leave a barb for a reservoir line to a remote tank that would hold two stroke? that actually sounds pretty sweet....

Trochoid, what do you use for premix? I'm an MMO man myself, but just wondered what a knowledgeable fella such as yourself uses. I tried outboard 2 cycle boat oil for a while but it smoked like crazy. It was wayyyy too smelly for me. I like the MMO cause it keeps the smoke down and doesn't stink as bad.

There's the link to the OMP adapters.
They don't have a reservoir, you have to fab something up yourself. Someone on here a while back was looking on ebay for oil cans or something like that. Just make sure you don't use anything plastic, oil will eat it's way through it in time. So unfortunately we can't use our sub-zero containers for premix, lol.
The spacer with the two barbs idea sounds like a good way to do it for those that don't have the spot for the lines.
I'm still thinking of how I'm going to fix my OMP in "full on" position. I do have a stock nikki, but 2 stroke is a thinner oil (and MMO is even thinner, for those guys using it.. I wouldn't, after I saw that thread in the archive comparing oils).. and besides, anything that helps me swap my carb and intake faster is a plus for me.

Jon,
I believe that you are referring to this thread?
https://www.rx7club.com/1st-gen-archive-71/cooling-oil-mmo-vs-two-stroke-premixing-thread-360375/
If you are interested I still have the original viscosity graphs saved on my computer at home from when I wrote the article. I can email or pm them to you if you'd like to add them to the archives. I feel like the writeup is kinda incomplete without those charts. I think it shows how inadequate MMO is as a lubricating oil.
If you're removing carbon MMO is great! If your revving at 7K MMO is not so great. I think I'm going to stick with a quality 2 cycle oil and add in the MMO to keep stuff clean.....
Lemme know about those pics Jon. I can send them tonight...

Definitely, email the charts to vipernicus42@hotmail.com (yes, quite a surprising email address isn't it?)
Are they no longer showing up in the article? I hadn't revisited it lately.
