AB Omp removal ( what about the Drive)

I am in the process of removing my omp. And i was just wondering if I have to get the drive out. Or do Just leave it and will it walk back and fourth?

Leave it. There is a gear on the inside that would prevent you from pulling it anyhow. What I did to fill the gap was to stuff a few dimes or pennies in there with some RTV and seal it up! Not sure if that's the proper procedure but thats what I did.

if you happen to have the front cover off for any reason then i would pull the drive gear out but until then you can just order a block off plate and gasket.

That site dose not have a block of plate for my car. (85 gsl se) I was going to make my own anyways I guess I was just worried about that drive gear coming out of contact with with the gear that its being driven by and causing damage to my engine

The gear can't really do any damage, it's lubed quite well, think about it. If you take the gear out, then you need to block of the supply to the MOP.

+1. just removing the gear makes a big hole in the oiling system, which = bearing failure.

I didnt realize that there was a oil gallery involved with the drive. Your saying that if that was removed , pressurized oil would flow stright into a the pan? I think If I were to do this mod I would machine a peace of aluminum with a step in it just like the omp pump has to keep it runing in the orignal position. I just thought of something maby the roation of the engine keeps the drive held up in the right spot due to thrust.

Any ways after spending the last couple of days reading about premixing and oils I think I'am going to fix my omp lines and reinstall it,,,,, run a milder mix of premix in the tank. The car has lasted 25 years working the way it has whats another couple.
