OMP question #246
So was at the auto parts store installing new vac caps on the carb spacer and decided to start it up and check for vac leaks. Looked at the OMP lines and noticed they are empty, should I see oil flowing through them? Should I start running premix?
Thanks for all the help!

Yeah, thought so. I've been throwing a little in with my gas since I got the car so I'm not too worried. How hard is it to remove and block off the pump (may as well as right?) while the engine is still in the car?
Its like 2 bolts on the side of the front cover. Not hard at all. U can buy the blocking plates from sites like mazdatrix. Yeh ive always wondered thattoo cuz ive seen the car running and never noticed any oil runnin thru the line. Guess its a good time to start premixing hah =/.

Yeah, I probably haven't been giving it as much as I'd wished I had however its better than nothing.
I can't seem to find a straight forward premixing guide to differentiate between the different engines, but 1oz per gallon of gas seems to be what I'm getting off of the FC stuff.
I have a 12a however.
How much difference does 2stroke vs 10-40 make for premixing in the tank?
How does premixing affect the fuel filter?

Well update. I got my block off plate from respeed a little over a week ago and just finally got around to putting it in today. I dont know if its this cold air or something I did but the car seems to have alot more up and go to it, and its also chugging gas. I'm sure this has almost nothing to do with that omp removal. However, I did put vacuume caps on the carb where the omp lines plugged in. Is capping them off a normal thing to do or is that the potential source of my problem?
Also as I was doing the removal I decided to run the car a bit with the omp disconnected just to make sure the lines weren't clogged or something. Well with the car running no oil came out of the omp itself, but if i played with the rod that attaches to the carb it would squirt a couple drops. So I'm wondering if the OMP is salvagable now or if its completely shot.
Any thoughts on either of these?

My thought is that normal delivery from the OMP is 2.0CC to 2.5CC over six minutes time at 2000rpm.
That's not a lot of oil. At idle, it's a lot less. The rod controls the flow rate.
Without having tested it on the engine per the FSM instructions, you've no way at all to know if it was working right.
You can only see oil moving through the lines if there are bubbles or air spaces in them; the oil moves very slowly, in alternate 'squirts' every few seconds. When the lines are completely full of oil, you can't see it move at all.

Maybe mine was fine then. Oh well I like the idea of premix better anyway. I've been using the 1oz:1gal ratio for 2 weeks now and its just funny the looks i get at the station.
But come to think of it I've never seen oil in those lines outside of the same old stains on the inside. Always just clouded, milky, translucent nylon pipe.
