OMP injection?

Just a couple of quick questions about the oil injection on the intake and block. Whats the vac nipple for the oil injector? Would the injectors work w/out the vac. hooked up? I'm goin carb with this SE motor and I yanked all the vac lines off along with everything pertaining to the stock FI.

Thanks, Ed

the OMP is not part of the FI system. the OMP should either be left on or blocked off and run premix to compensate for the oil.

if you want to just block off the omp you can just remove the linkage that will activate the OMP, as well replace the screws with normal ones that wont alow oil passage.

what carb would you be running. for the inlet on the carb, I used the stock carbs hard line. EX. in my IDA, i drilled two holes in the fuel bowl, trimeed the hard line and secured it with JB weld. For the other webber sidedraft, do the same except install it in the intake manifold.

Im also using GSL-SE oil metering pump with 4 lines. I reduced it to 2 lines by using a plastic "T-Wye (some calls it a wye, and others call it a T; therefore, I called it T-Wye) and small clear hose from pep-boys.

I'm using a Dellorto which has the oil inlets on top but I wanted to retain the stock oil injection on the intake and block if possible. I ran my old 13B this way. Just plugging the stock oil injection holes with a screw. I know it has nothing to do with the FI. My question was, would the oil injection work w/out the vac nipples hooked? Also whats the purpose of the vac nipples on the oil injector? Anyone?

Thanks, Ed

So what did you end up doing? Did you pull them out and plug it? Can you just leave them there even if theyre not working or is it best to plug?

Thanks, Ed

You need the vacuum pulsation bolts to flow oil through oil injectors. Here's why;

The reason why the 4 oil injector pulsation bolts (on an SE) are connected through the 'spider' to a vacuum source - the Dynamic Effect chamber, is so that there is a vacuum 'pulse' that flows through the vacuum lines. This pulse pushes and pulls against a diaphragm inside the bolts. When this diaphragm moves, it causes small amounts of slightly pressurized oil (coming from the OMP, and based on demand) to be 'squirted' through the small hole through the inside of the bolt. The bolts carry the oil under very slight pressure, but the pulse diaphragm is what helps to shoot it into the air stream so that it mixes more fully.

I would suppose that just leading the clear line to the vacuum normally present in an intake would cause oil to come through the line, but Mazda engineered this to use a 'squirter' to help atomize the oil with the intake air charge. HTH,

Great explaination! Now what other vac source can I use to retain this set up without the rats nest? Can I use any of the vac ports on the lower intake and hook it up directly to the squirters or should I just pull the squirters plug them up and be done with it?

Thanks, Ed
