OMP and aftermarket intakes

I know a lot of people are running their oil metering pumps with aftermarket intakes, but I've heard that running direct off of intake vacuum somehow damages the pump. Is there any truth in this?
Is the stock OMP pumping oil into the float bowls, or is there an actual vac signal there to help it along?

I wonder about the same thing. I have Weber 45DCOE setup and am pre-mixing, but would like to have my OMP connected. I don't want to tap into the intake manifold due to the vacuum and the potential for inconsistent mixture. It would seem to me that "atomizing" the oil in the intake manifold would be iffy at best.

Dosen't the SE's stock OMP system have four injectors, two in the rotor housing and two in the intake manifold?

I'm not sure, but I know the 2nd gen oil injection system has 4 like that.
Anyways, I'm specifically talking about the 12a. :P
Would it be wise to adapt 2nd gen oil injectors to an aftermarket manifold?
These things run directly off of straight vacuum, looks like..

I'd say drill a hole in the manifold and tap it for a barb fitting, or press one in and seal it with JB-Weld.

Make sure it'll drip down into the air stream rather than puddle in the manifold.

Might wanna have input from others before you try that.

In the picture below you can see were I tapped into the upper part of the intake manifold for the omp lines. one in each intake... works like a charm...

That's what I am thinking of doing, but I wanted to clarify that it wouldn't damage the OMP.. Seems like it wouldn't be a problem.

I had mine done by a professional car racer that specializes in rotary engines... so I would say is pretty safe there...

Okay, thx guys.. Good advice.
I saw those previous posts about the rotary aviation adapter. I will buy one eventually to check it out. It would be cool to be able to run synthetic without worrying about it caking up the chamber AND avoiding the PITA of premixing.. Seems like a waste anyway if you premix too much.

Well said. Sums up my thinking for sure.
