Good buddy Bobby just called, headed over to the shop to see what we can do. We'll make sure to get the float level right!
You don't have to remove the carb off the car to access the floats!!! Allen just removed the fuel lines and the top section the of carb right on the car and he adjusted the floats from there (granted this was after he did the rebuild and the carb was put back on the car)
I thought that might be the case, but when Bobby said pull it off and bring it over for a full rebuild, I had to go with his recommendation. It will cost a case of beer but I get a few carb tutorial in the process.
Now blwfly how'd you get it that clean, I need to know soon!

i soaked each part in a can of carb cleaner probaly a day each time. I used a series of almost like dentist picks for the hard parts, also i used compressed air for the hard gaps did each area severl times till i was satisfied.
Also wire brushs wire wheels for easy parts i did not do this in one night maybe few hours every couple days i was pretty straped with time and cold weather the key is to take your time and go over things at least 3 times to be positive..
tho u think its super clean im still not satisfied
i hope this helps dude best of luck

Thanks blwfly, Bobby and I just put in 6 Saturday hours doing what you're talking about, got it all apart and cleaned up and we are putting it back together. We didn't get it done today but are ready to put on all the attachments and get it back in the car, hopefully I'll get that new carb feeling.
Lot's of details, like those little ***** go down not up and the little rods are just weights. Yup lots of time but there's not much you could be doing that is more satisfying! I couldn't have done it without my carb buddy Bobby, thanks to guys like you who still study the lost arts.

Ray,
Wish i had read this earlier. Should have gone out there to meet yall and see this done. Could have used the lessons myself. Oh well... this is kinda inspiring. would be great to get the car all put back together and have it running super

Nope, doing it the hard way, keeping all the stock emission stuff (that's where the two dozen hookups come from). This is my daily driver so I want to keep the exhaust smells reasonable and try to keep that nasty yellow spot over the exhaust from forming to often. Plus I'm kind of a purist on keeping it stock. When I get it back in I'll take a picture, you probably won't even be able to see the carb anymore!
Long live the carbuerator!

Ray I like the photos, I like how there is only light on the carb itself! lol nice
OK, the carb's in, the vacuum leaks are sealed, it's been properly dragged down the road by wife Cathy and, with a few adjustments, it runs. The best I can describe it is:
"HOLY ****!!! HHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLYYYYYYYY SSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTT!!! WOW!! WHat a HUGE ******* difference that nikki rebuild did to my 12A! Its like a brand new car! I have NEVER felt it this strong in my life. The rebuild was done by my really good friend Allen (13B-RX3 here on the 7club). HE did an amazing job! I know this thread isn't really informative but i just wanted to share my happiness Ask this guy for carb tips...he is amazing!!!"
Keeping on topic, as usual.

Oh yeh, I almost forgot. I discovered how to get that carb nut on the rear left side on. What you do is put the nut on the carb, then gently lower it into place so the nut sets on top of the stud. Then a nice touch with the finger tip sets it home. Worth the cost of admission.

Question: Does a properly rebuilt carb with proper fluid levels run at the right A/F? or do changes have to be made per car. Say a carb off a different car where made to fit, would that carb supply the right amount of fuel from the air being drawn in.
