Ok, What Bushings Do I Replace If I Want To Do ALL Of Them?

Exactly what the title says. I was really lazy and only searched a little, so forgive me if the info is out there. All the stuff I ofund says where to get the bushings and that they are sold "piece by piece" or a "little here, little there" type thing. Well, thats fine and dandy, as long as you know what bushings you need...Im not too sure as to what is what under my car, so I need a little help in coming up with what Im gonna need when I go to swap out ALL my bushings...Maybe we could archive this or something too, just so other people can find it when they want to.

This is a list I have compiled so far:

Front Control Arms
Rear Control Arms
Strut Rod Bushings
Front Sway Bar Mount
Rear Sway Bar Mount
End Link Bushings
Tie Rod Dust Boots

What else guys? I want ALL new busings, that means EVERYTHING .

~T.J.

PS - I came up with this list just by browsing SummitRacing for a few minutes, and came up with a total of $141.18 + shipping for Energy Suspension poly bushings...Good price or not?

The best prices I found were from Victoria British.

Good luck swapping them out...that was by far the worst part of doing my suspension

Front end bushings: inner control arm, sway bar end-links, sway bar mount, tension rod, idler arm.

Rear end: sway bar end-links, sway bar mount, watts linkage, lower trailing arms, upper trailing arms.

For the front end use poly-urethane throughout.

A good way of setting up the rear is to use poly everywhere except you leave the old rubber bushings in the upper trailing arms and sway bar mount. This is done to keep the rear-end from binding up and it works really well. The other option would be to just use new rubber bushings throughout.

Ok...So order all new poly for front stuff mentioned, then poly for everything in the back excet the upper trailing arms and swap bar mounts, but get new rubber for those? Why cant I just get ALL poly? I mean, if they make the bushings, why cant I use them? Something up with the geometry of the suspension that doesnt let them work?

Using all poly in the back can cause it to bind up. This means that the suspension reaches the limit of it's travel which usually means sudden snap oversteer. If you're going to do what I suggested then leave the old rubber bushings in the upper trailing arms and sway mount. Another way would be to just use new rubber bushings throughout.

Hey RotorMotorDriver,
The front end other bushing to look at is the idler arm bushing. It get hammered by the heat of the exhaust and can may your front end wander all of the road.

You can get all of these parts from Mazda Competition, here is their web site.

I have a deal for you, if you buy all poly bushing I will buy half the rear link bushings from you. That way we both can have a half poly rear too.

Drop me a line if you are interested.

I need new 'radius arm' bushings (at the very front of the car, behind the bumper). Are these known by another name? I can't find replacements in this name. Help?

Throughout where? The whole rear end? I mean, ALL the bushings in the back of my car are broken and falling out of there little spots, which is why I want new ones...So do I get all new rubber for the back and poly for the front? Or do I get all poly except the upper control arms and sway bar mounts and then get new rubber ones for those? Im so lost on this...The original reason for this thread remains though...What bushings are there on the car? Not necessarily which ones should be replaced and how.

I wanted to know what all is under there, and then I was going to decide which ones I want to replace from there...So, what all is under there...Add on to the list please .

Front Control Arms
Rear Control Arms
Strut Rod Bushings
Front Sway Bar Mount
Rear Sway Bar Mount
End Link Bushings
Tie Rod Dust Boots

I already listed all of the bushings in my first post.

Definately use poly all through the front end.

In the rear, use rubber in the upper trailing arms and sway-bar mount and poly everywhere else. If the old rubber bushings in the upper trailing arms are still decent use those... if not get new ones.

Clear enough?

yes most poly bushes will end up squeaking but nothing that the corect grade of rubber greasae will fix...
simply use in on the inside/ pivoting areas and not the outside.. this will avoid dirt and grit getting into them

Hey Adsy, do you normally use grease on the inner control arm bushings?

yup only on the the inner sleeve though...

the idea is to have the the bush remain static in the arm and the pivot (sleeve) greased and freely moving with in the bush...
