Is the difference between 9 and 12 or 12 and 17 pounds noticable?

I just looked at Mazdatrix's and RX7.com's flywheels. The lightest they have is 12 pounds and the light steel is 17 pounds. I saw no 9 pounder.

A reduction from the stock 23 pounds to 12 pounds seems drastic to me as that's almost half the weight.

Those of you that are using the 12 pounder on the street, how hard is it to start up a hill? What about those of you with the 17 pounder. Have you noticed a signifigant difference between other flywheels? Would you put a different one on if you had the oppourtunity? Please include the flywheel weight you use in your reply. Thanks

Running 17 lb steel w/CF Dual Frctn clutch. Big difference in revability as SFist pointed out. I have to go up a pretty steep hill on W. Davis in Oak Cliff on my way to work everyday and it is NOT a problem with this combo.

Mr.Fist----the pedal is supposed to be light w/the CF clutch, that's the whole point. You could always get a mondo return spring if ya just gotta have a clutch pedal that doubles as quad/calf workout.

Lets see.....its 9lbs with a 3lb counterweight. 14lbs steel with a 3lb. counterweight. I like the aluminum better but unless your hardcore, its like a difference of $100 bucks.

SR motorsports has a 9.5 # aluminum FW for $429 w/o counterweight, it's an extra $99. I'm assuming that will fit all 225 mm clutch systems, 83-91.
The have a package deal with that FW, counterwieght, and ACT HD clutch/PP for $799 for 83-91 RX-7's. All bearings, seals, and alignment tool are included. I'm saving for this sysyem and hope to get b4 spring.

Yeah, I know. It's just sometimes it feels too light. I'm not complaining that much. I would prefer something closer to a stock feel though.
