Unhappy oil pressure? too high!

well, i just got finished with my clutch install... so i thought. I double checked everything, and went ahead and started it up. As soon as i did, the oil pressure guage went straight up, past the 110 mark, so i shut it down.
Does anyone know what could have caused this? I didn't even get to put it in gear to see how the new clutch was... i hope i didn't break anything. could it just be those 4 wires that you disconnect when taking the tranny out? could i have mixed them up when i put it back together?

any info would be greatly appreciated, as i have to get this thing running tonight.
thanks in advance
jeff

I believe those wires are to signal the reverse lights. Go check your wiring again and double check that you have the right harness plugged into the oil pressure sensor.

under the water to oil cooler ( beehive thing the oil filter goes on) it is a little bell looking thing. i don't know how you can get them hooked up different cause of the end on the wire.

ok, well here is how it is.

i turn my car to the on possition, and both the oil pressure and the temp guage shoot up as far as they can go... so i am pretty sure it is an electronic thing.
the part that stumps me, is i didn't disconnect anything except for the two bullet connectors off to the driver's side of the tranny... could i have gotten those mixed up?
Any more thoughts?

if they go up as far as they can go, then it sounds like the wires are being earthed out some how , it check the conectors that u were talkin about.

since you have an 85, four wires for the tranny go to two different things. Two of the wires go to the reverse light switch, and the other two go to the neutral switch. The neutral switch was only on 84-85 cars.

well, i tried to switch the wires, but no dice...
the only other think that I can think of is a bad ground... would this be probable? i had to move one of the grounds when i put the tranny back on, maybe that is it?
