Cool Oil Pressure Guage Prob.

I just recently bought a 85 GS and I have noticed that twice the oil pressure guage has stopped working then after the car sits for 30 minutes or so and I get back in seems to work again. Any one else have this problem or know of a solution. BTW the car runs fine and has plenty of oil.

Thanks

it's my first RX and I love it!!

Check the wire on the pressure sender. Its on the drivers side of the engine under the oil filter and all that right on the side of the block. Theres a single wire that goes to it. Just make sure its clean and making good contact.

and even if you get it working again.... expect it to be a little off. the stock oil pressure guages are known to be inaccurate

sounds like your wire is grounded out somewhere. check into it. it happened to me and i replaced the wire and now my gauge is off. even swapped the gauge and still won't go past 30psi. hooked a mechanical up to it and idles at 40 and goes up to 70 when i give it gas so i'm not worried right now. i'll fix it someday

Changing the wire to a wire with different resistance will cause the gauge to be off. Same with corrosion. If theres corrosion, there is more resistance, which would make it read wrong.
