Oil Pressure gauge

I had a new transmission put in my car just a little while ago. Being I'm not the greatest car person in the world I had a friend do it for me... After I got it home I realized that the oil pressure gauge wasn’t working. My friend told me to check the wires and make sure that every thing is plugged in. I did this and found there is only one wire; its orange like, that isn't plugged into anything but I couldn't find anything to plug it into. What could be the problem? Which wire(s) is it that works with the oil pressure gauge? Does this wire have anything to do with it?

Just slide it onto the yellow looking bulbous thing under the oil filter. I can clearly see that it's not connected to the terminal in the big pic.

I connected it up and started the car. Then the oil gauge worked but the needle went all the way to the top...any idea?

That's kinda weird. It's supposed to read normally. Maybe you should unplug it to reduce the risk of possibly messing up the guage.

I tried it again and it pegged out again but then went down to normal so I don't know what it was but it seems fine now... Thanks much

Maybe it was partially grounging or something. Glad it's working now.

I tried to get a pic to show up, but ran into problems.
