oil metering bump delete question for 12A

I found this thread and haven't received an answer to the one question I had about it.

https://www.rx7club.com/new-member-rx-7-technical-256/12a-metered-oil-blockoff-924149/

I'm already running pre-mixed gas and the pump lines are blocked off and the lever on it is no longer hooked up to the carb.

anyways, it looks like I can just take the thing off and make a plate and seal it up, but looking at the spare partially assembled front cover I have makes me worried that the shaft and gear that turn the pump will move outwards and get all messed up if I do that. I'm probably over thinking this and worrying too much, but I feel that it's better to be safe than sorry, so I might as well ask.

thanks

For 5 bucks I wouldn't waist my time. Grab one from respeed.

I've seen that, I was just concerned about the shaft that turns the pump moving around with just the plate on there. I almost removed my front cover to remove that shaft, but it looks like everyone just keeps it in there from the sounds of things. It will take me less time to make a cover plate than it would to have that $5 one shipped, so it think I'll just do that, shouldn't be too hard.

The shaft won't eat up the cover, it's lubed due to the nature of it's function. If you remove the internal parts of the MOP, then you have to block off the oil galley in the front iron. Done incorrectly, it can lead to a loss/reduction of oil pressure.

awesome, thanks! that's the answer I've been looking for all week! I made myself an aluminum block off plate today and put it on, should work out tip top.

The feedback is highly appreciated.
