Oil Leaking

I've been looking at my seven for a while now, and I've noticed a **** load of smoke coming from it, its leaking oil from somewhere around the carb, and then its dripping onto the themal reactor and burning. Has anyone else had this kind of problem? Can you help me?? Thanks. O-yeah its an 81.

its probably your oil metering pump gasket leaking. btw, you have an 81, it is not equipped with a thermal reactor, it has the manifold and catylitic converters, unless it is a pre 1981 engine. dave

check those two little plastic lines that run from the front of the motor, on the exhaust side, up, over the radiator hose and into the driver side of the carb.... two little plastic lines, that you definatly want to have.... feeds oil to the motor to keep the seals lubricated and keep the comp up....

Good luck..... if thats not your problem, I dunno what is....

as stated the dripping into the heat shield is typically the omp leaking.

Your more then likely right, do you have only 1 cat looking thing and a oval pill looking thing for a maniold, and a tube that runs to the side of your muffler?

oil metering pump. Do you have a Haynes? it explains how to check the omp and handle as needed.

it turned out to be one of the little plastic hoses, the rubber broke off, so i just slid it back on and it is no longer leaking, but i just found out that my oil cooler line on the bottom is leaking just a bit, right where it connects to the oil cooler, is there a cheap quick fix to this?? or do i have to replace the whole line??
