can anyone describe or post a diagram of the oil flow in the 12A....where does it go and what path does it follow once it is picked up by the pickup tube from the sump till it reaches back to the sump?

thanx

i wanted to know because i was wondering if maybe doing a reverse flow system would have any benefits and i was trying to figure out where the scavenge lines would connect in a dry sump system

Ive posted the diagram before if you wanna search for it. Basically, oil gets picked up from the sump, through the oil cooler and filter, down to the rear main bearing and through the dowel pins to the front main bearing, then through the e-shaft to the rotors after which it drains back to the sump.

No problem. Hope that they help. I think that I have seen the one Revhead posted before on here, but it was easier just to create new pics instead of trying to find the old ones. These are out of the 1985 FSM, BTW. Good luck with your idea.

Here you go. This is for S4 13b engines, but should give you the idea.

From what I've heard, they sell reprints so not all of the images are of good quality (especially photographs). Hopefully, someone that has a Mazdatrix manual will chime in and help out.

No problem, man. Yes, there are online PDFs of the FSMs (that is where I got the images from).

1985
http://www.wankel.net/~krwright/cars/rx7/85_manual.html

1980
http://www.wankel.net/~krwright/cars/rx7/80_manual.html

1986-1991
http://www.teamfc3s.org/main/factory_service_manual/

Some of the pics in the files aren't that good, but it isn't too bad to work with. I would like to get an original FSM sometime as well. Sometimes it helps to supplement the FSM with the Haynes manual to help clarify what is going on in some of the pics.

i have a haynes...i found a better after market one called clymer at the library in my college. but to tell you the truth...i find both of them quite incomplete...i guess u cant expect too much from an aftermarket book. how much do the Original FSM's go for and where can i find one other than EBAY?
